Welcome
Our Culture Today
What's the most common thing in our culture today?
We all need help
navigating the landscape and applying our values to what we see, hear
and experience in today’s culture.
Whether ministering with the
youth, young adults, or parents at St. Leo Church, presenting to a youth
group across town, talking with teens or parents in Omaha
or across the Archdiocese, or working
closely with one of the many committees and organizations I have the
privilege to be a part of, it's my values that drive my opinions and
commentary.
I am honored to have been a
part of ministry for over ten years, and
during
those ten years, I have had the privilege of discussing today’s culture
with many different
groups of teens and parents. I have found that parents want the best for
their children, and teens DO want what’s best for themselves. Best of
all, I've heard from parents and teens that have been
inspired
to follow their instincts and honor their values as they make
common-sense decisions for themselves and for their families.
I have been trained and
continue to work closely with the
Center for
Ministry Development and
Boys Town Center for Adolescent Development, and
my
programs are designed to give parents and teens the reasons, skills and
support they need to live better lives in today’s world, use their God
given gifts to make healthier decisions in a culture far removed from
our Christian values, and give strategies for developing healthy
lifelong relationships.
I am located in Omaha, NE and travel Eastern Nebraska
and Western Iowa to share with parents, teens, educators, and other
youth ministry professionals. I'd love to visit your community too, so
contact me about scheduling a speaking date for your school or
group.
I hope you’ll visit my
website often to check for updates, and continue to share the site with
your family, friends, neighbors and anyone who thinks we're all due for
a different look on today’s culture.
God bless you,
John Gencarelli
